My career in education has spanned over 25 years in elementary through high school in general education and special education. I have earned a PhD in Education, specializing in Learning, Instruction, and Innovation, from Walden University with my dissertation on teachers’ experiences with Maker-based learning. My research interests include problem-based learning, Makerspaces, collaboration, technology integration, and authentic learning. I am passionate about Innovation, student-centered learning, technology, and making a difference in education.
To continue my quest for knowledge, I have started an Educational Specialist Degree program majoring in District Level Leadership. I want to make a difference in the education system by improving access to quality technical education and real-world learning for all students.
As a member of several professional organizations, a frequent attendee of ISTE, HECC, and ICE, professional learning networks are vital to my growth as a learner leader and agent of change. Every one of us can make a difference if we are willing to take a chance.
Out side of school, I have been married to an amazing guy for 16 years and together we have one miniature dachshund, Floomar, and three cats, Mazda, Munchkin, and Ellie. I love to quilt, read, explore cemeteries, listen to true crime podcasts, and scrapbook. Bob and I have been vegan for about two years and enjoy cooking together as we try out new recipes and ingredients.
